A midday stroll on the Plateau, with a snack of local products in a Victorian home
Join me in my centenary house on rue St. Hubert to meet each other and savour a quite welcome aperitif and a few typical Quebec snacks : cheeses, pâtés, salads and dessert. If it’s beautiful outside, we may take the lunch in the flower garden, and start the stroll after. The itinerary is identical to the one in the morning stroll.
We’ll set out rue Cherrier to take in the Victorian architecture of beautiful houses from the end of the 19th century. Right after we’ll feel the easygoing vibe of Square St. Louis. On rue Laval, I’ll point you out the homes of many artists, past and present. We’ll go across the pedestrian rue Prince Arthur to turn right on busy and ethnic boulevard St. Laurent, the hearth of the city, packed with original murals and little ethnic shops, mainly from Eastern Europe. We’ll wind up our stroll on rue Duluth, home of the Portuguese neighbourhood, to meet some of my favorite local shopkeepers, before getting back to rue St. Denis and the Sherbrooke metro station.
